History of the Rosen Method

Background
The Rosen Method was developed by Marion Rosen (1914-2012) over the course of many years in private practice as a physiotherapist and health educator. Her unique knowledge and approach to bodywork and movement earned her recognition as a leader and originator in the field of body-mind oriented therapies.

Marion developed the Rosen Method as a way of using touch, listening and dialogue to make connection between the muscle tension, aches, pains and general tiredness, with underlying emotions arising from earlier memories.

She became convinced that the connection between the mind and body were of great importance for the health and general well-being. She taught and practiced around the world into her nineties and was persuaded to share the work she was doing. This led to the development of the Rosen Method Bodywork and a practitioner training program, now operating in many countries around the world.

The Rosen Institute holds ”The Rosen Method” trademark, licensing new training centers and maintaining the responsibility for certifying all practitioners internationally, thus protecting the quality of the work.

Research
Research of the Rosen Method at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm has shown that the mental and physical health of the persons involved were improved following treatments. For example, it increased their awareness of the connection between the body, the emotions and the thoughts, which supported them in their personal growth and increased their willingness to make life changes.
