How does a treatment work?
A typical appointment of a first time client can proceed like this:
- We sit down together for a short while where I describe the treatment, and you have the opportunity to ask questions. In most cases, we have most likely already spoken on the phone, so I will already have asked a few questions to understand your needs. Otherwise I will ask a bit about your life and your expectations from the Rosen treatment.
- I start the treatment, which takes place on a massage table, by identifying areas of muscle tensions in your body. For example, I may start on the back for one person, on the legs or perhaps the neck for another. Primary indicators are tight muscles.
- During the treatment I place my hands on the tight muscles and thus meet the tension. This often leads to a release of the muscle tension and a freer breathing. When old tensions get released, held back/underlying emotions and/or earlier memories may surface. I calmly follow the reactions in the body, both the physical and the mental/psychological. The feelings that may come up can be both challenging as well as a great source of joy. You can for example suddenly laugh out loud or perhaps cry a little. We take it as it comes. Nice and easy.
Throughout the treatment I use my eyes, my hands and all my senses. Moreover, I can for example:
- describe the reactions I notice are occurring in your body.
- ask simple questions intended to help uncover the physical source of the tensed muscle.
- help and support in the emotional reactions that may occur.
As the session finishes, reactions vary greatly. Some clients feel physically relaxed, others reenergized while some might feel more tired than before the treatment. Often you need a glass of water and some time and peace in the following hours.
