Psychosynthesis

Roberto Assagioli created the Psychosynthesis - an alternative psychological theory, where body, mind, intellect and emotions are closely related.

Background
In his youth the psychiatrist, Roberto Assagioli, got in contact with the Psychoanalysis and was inspired by both Freud and Jung. However Assagioli thought that Freud had a limited and materialistic approach to the human being and that the Psychoanalysis went too far in the analysis process. Assagioli was also of the opinion that you should never be able to separate more than you could put together and that there should be a pure interaction between analysis and synthesis. Therefore Assagioli began to develop his own theory, which he in 1926 named Psychosynthesis.

Assagioli's Psychosynthesis
In conclusion, one can say that Assagioli's Psychosynthesis is a psychological theory in which the body, the soul, the intellect and the emotions are closely related. Through talk, meditation and various exercises the Psychosynthesis give the human psyche a new and broader frame of reference.

The will
The will is a significant part in the Psychosynthesis, where it says that a person's will is in close relation with its soul. Without a will, even the simplest project becomes difficult to implement. Just as you can train the muscles in your body, you can train the will and accomplish what you want in your life. The Psychosynthesis and its tools can lead you towards your inner will and get you to act upon it.

Strategies/Subpersonalities
Subpersonalities can be described as different roles you have in life - different types of clothing (such as attitudes, behaviours, thoughts, feelings and values) that does not really show your true self. Each subpersonality has its own image and its own motivation. In the Psychosynthesis these subpersonalities are made visibile by looking at the cause of the occurrence and how they limit and/or serve you.

Disattachment
An important part of the Psychosynthesis is the so-called disattachment. Instead of being absorbed by your feelings, desires, feelings and thoughts, you observe them objectively and free from values without wanting to change or influence them. You see them separated from you, almost as if you were looking at a landscape.

A specific purpose
On a deeper level, the Psychosynthesis says that every human being on this earth has a specific purpose, which is meant only for that person in this life. Another description can be a path that is meant especially for you - a path that only you can take. This path or purpose is already present within you.
